Reimagining the Familiar: Filipino Music and the Classical Guitar is a project that reinterprets original Filipino repertoire through the expressive lens of the classical guitar ensemble. Traversing folk traditions and iconic OPM, each work is reshaped while preserving its cultural identity and musical essence. Led by the PIMA Guitar Quartet, the performance highlights the synergy of its members and presents the guitar ensemble as a dynamic medium for both artistic and educational engagement. Through concerts and brief lecture segments, the project bridges popular and classical traditions, fostering deeper appreciation of Filipino music in an innovative and accessible format.

About the Artist

The PIMA Guitar Quartet is a premier Filipino ensemble featuring Patrick Roxas, Iqui Vinculado, Monching Carpio, and Adrik Cristobal, dedicated to championing classical guitar through a diverse repertoire of folk traditions, OPM, and contemporary works from NCR. Named after the fundamental fingerstyle technique, the group bridges the gap between popular and classical traditions through innovative performances and educational engagement. Beyond the stage, they actively cultivate the local arts scene by organizing the PIMA Classical Guitar Competition and collaborating with leading Filipino artists to elevate the guitar ensemble as a dynamic medium for cultural expression.
