Brown Madonna is a full-length dance theatre work by Ea Torrado that explores Filipina identity, motherhood, labor, faith, and queer sensuality through the figure of a shape-shifting “Brown Madonna.” Blending autobiography, mythology, performance art, and contemporary dance, the work reimagines the divine feminine through a distinctly Filipino lens. Following its 2025 premiere in Frankfurt, Germany, Brown Madonna returns home for its Philippine premiere in July 2026.
About the Artist
Daloy Dance Company is a Manila-based contemporary dance theatre collective founded by Artistic Director Ea Torrado. Known for its bold, interdisciplinary performances, the company blends dance, theatre, and improvisation to explore Filipino identity, culture, and social narratives. Through works that are both visceral and thought-provoking, Daloy continues to push the boundaries of contemporary performance in the Philippines and beyond.
