Sisa Reimagined

Date (Day) Time

Venue

Sisa Reimagined is a solo interdisciplinary performance that transforms José Rizal’s tragic maternal figure into a postcolonial oracle navigating memory, grief, and resistance. Integrating Butoh, physical theater, and traditional Tawas sa Papel ritual practices, the work unfolds as a visceral self-encounter examining the lingering scars of colonial violence on the collective body. This 15-minute showcase offers a compelling excerpt from the full-length piece in development, capturing Sisa’s powerful evolution from a symbol of suffering into a fierce bearer of ancestral memory.
